Peace Group
In 2003 the Weierhof Mennonite Congregation Peace Group celebrated its 20th anniversary. The group was established after the 1983 German Protestant Church Congress and initially focused on rallying against armament. The Peace Group also aimed at a better understanding of the Mennonite peace commitment in general and at developing a clear strategy for its own understanding of peace tasks. The group started to organize peace praying services, first at the Weierhof Mennonite church, soon afterwards at important military bases in the area, and it was actively involved in the peace events in Kirchheimbolanden.
Over the years, the group
shrunk in number and presently consists of 5 members. There is a
meeting once a month, for planning and offering an annual service
and to be reminded each time again how to live the life of a peace
witness in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. A recurring issue of our
efforts concerns non-violent conflict management.
