Cell 6
Our small group for Bible study was established when youngsters and
young adults were looking for an opportunity to talk about God and
personal experiences.
We are not limited to members of the Weierhof Mennonite
Congregation, so there are also young people from other nearby
congregations. Currently, about 8-10 people get together regularly.
We meet every fortnight, on Wednesday evenings at around eight o’clock in different homes. One of the group members prepares a topic, generally biblically or religiously oriented, about which we then exchange thoughts and ideas. The person who prepares the topic also opens the discussion, the others join in afterwards. However, we have also agreed that it can be overridden if somebody wants to discuss serious personal problems.
We start the evening with prayer and singing. The prayer is mostly done together; everyone can contribute their concerns and bring their thoughts to God, whether it be everyday work, family, experiences with God, or a prayer for forgiveness.
Another major task within our small group is our contribution to a praise and worship service one Sunday per month. This is done in cooperation with Small Group 7 with whom we meet the Wednesday preceding this specific worship service.
In addition, we are regularly asked to organize a complete Sunday service or to help prepare an afternoon for and with the seniors or to just be of help with other activities.
A very important task for both small groups 6 and 7 has been the
supervision of the Yes-Teams that visited our congregation.
A Yes-Team is a group of young adults, mostly from the USA but also
from Canada and many other countries, who attend a biblical seminar
in Europe and enjoy their practical service in our congregation. The
last team concentrated their activities on working with children and
youngsters.
